Program overview
Aerospace Propulsion Theory and Engineering, simply put, is about making aircraft and rockets fly faster, farther, and more fuel-efficient. Core courses include principles of aero engines, rocket engine design, combustion science, fluid dynamics, structural strength, and more. You'll learn 'hardcore' topics like turbofan engines, ramjet engines, liquid/solid rocket engines, and conduct extensive numerical simulations and experiments. This major suits students with a solid foundation in math and physics, strong hands-on skills, and a passion for aircraft propulsion. Chinese universities have unique strengths in this field—for example, Beihang University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Northwestern Polytechnical University all have national key laboratories and close collaborations with enterprises like China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and Aero Engine Corporation of China, giving students access to real-world projects.
