Program overview
This program focuses on the entire process of nuclear fuel from mining, processing, use to reprocessing. Simply put, it's about how to turn uranium ore into fuel usable by nuclear power plants and how to safely handle spent fuel. Core courses include nuclear chemistry, radiochemistry, nuclear fuel cycle engineering, nuclear chemical equipment, radiation protection, etc. You will also learn some principles of chemical engineering and materials science. It is suitable for students who are interested in chemistry and physics, enjoy hands-on experiments, and don't mind dealing with radioactive concepts (though actual safety protection is very strict). China has strong capabilities in this field, with universities like Tsinghua University and Harbin Engineering University having specialized laboratories and training bases, giving students opportunities to participate in real nuclear fuel processing simulation projects.
