Program overview

In simple terms, Public Security Intelligence is about using intelligence methods to maintain public safety. You might think it's like movie spies, but it's actually more down-to-earth—for example, analyzing crime data to predict high-incidence areas, mining clues from social media, and using big data to track fraud rings. Core courses include Fundamentals of Intelligence, Criminal Intelligence Analysis, Counter-Terrorism Intelligence, Data Mining and Visualization, and Public Security Information Systems. A real advantage of Chinese universities in this major is that many instructors have hands-on experience, and courses often use real cases (anonymized) for practice, with opportunities to intern at police intelligence centers. It's suitable for students who are logical, number-savvy, and enjoy solving puzzles—plus a sense of justice and resilience.

Major prospects

这个领域现在正处在“数据驱动”的转型期。以前靠经验办案，现在靠数据说话。中国在智慧警务上投入很大，很多城市都在建“城市大脑”，公安情报就是其中的核心模块。对国际学生来说，有几个方向值得关注：一是跨国犯罪情报，比如电信诈骗、毒品走私，这些需要懂不同语言和文化的人；二是网络安全情报，随着网络攻击增多，需求很旺；三是企业安全，大公司越来越需要情报分析来防范商业间谍和内部风险。总的来说，技术更新快，但人的分析判断能力永远稀缺。

Career prospects

毕业后最直接的出路是进公安系统，比如公安局的情报指挥中心、网安支队、反恐支队，岗位像情报分析师、数据研判员。在中国，公安系统起薪大概5000-8000元/月（一线城市更高），加上各种补贴和福利，实际收入不错。另外，国家安全部门、海关、边防也会招人。如果不想进体制，可以去大型互联网公司的安全部门、金融企业的风控岗、咨询公司的调查团队，这些岗位起薪能到1万-2万/月。国际学生回国的话，可以进本国警察机构或国际组织（如联合国毒品和犯罪问题办公室），或者做跨境安全顾问。注意：部分岗位可能需要通过政审，国际学生要提前了解本国政策。
