Program overview
The Cyberspace Security major teaches you how to protect data in computers, phones, and servers from theft, tampering, or destruction. Core courses include cryptography (encrypting information), network offense and defense (simulating hacker attacks and defenses), system security (hardening operating systems), and data privacy (protecting personal information). This major is perfect for hands-on learners with strong logical thinking and an interest in hacker attack and defense techniques. Many Chinese universities, such as Xidian University and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, have dedicated cybersecurity labs where students can participate in CTF (Capture the Flag) competitions and even join national-level network protection exercises to gain real-world experience. If you enjoy solving puzzles, breaking down problems, and have a bit of a "hacker spirit," this major will be exciting.
