Program overview
Vehicle Engineering is a sub-discipline of Mechanical Engineering under the Engineering category. Simply put, it’s the study of “vehicles.” You’ll learn how cars are designed, how engines and batteries work, how to make vehicles safer and more fuel-efficient, and explore the hottest topics like intelligent driving and connected vehicle technology. Core courses include Vehicle Structure, Vehicle Theory, Engine Principles, Vehicle Design, Vehicle Electronic Control Technology, and New Energy Vehicle Technology. If you enjoy taking things apart, have an interest in mechanics and electronics, or want to be part of the future of transportation, this major is a great fit. Chinese universities offer strong hands-on training in vehicle engineering, with many schools partnering with industry to build labs—for example, Tongji University has a wind tunnel lab, Jilin University hosts the State Key Laboratory of Automotive Simulation and Control, and Tsinghua University is a leader in intelligent vehicles. International students here not only gain solid theoretical knowledge but also get exposure to cutting-edge technologies in China’s rapidly growing automotive industry.
