Program overview
Mechanical Design and Theory is one of the core directions of mechanical engineering. Simply put, it's about studying how to "conceive" and "build" mechanical systems. During your graduate studies, you will delve into courses such as mechanical structure design, mechanics analysis, material selection, vibration and noise control, and computer-aided design (CAD/CAE). Core courses include Advanced Mechanical Design, Finite Element Analysis, Optimization Design, and Mechanical System Dynamics. This major suits students who enjoy taking things apart, are curious about mechanical structures, and are willing to solve real-world problems using math and software. Chinese universities have a strong tradition of engineering practice in this field, with many labs collaborating directly with companies on projects like high-speed rail gearboxes, robot joints, and car chassis—giving you hands-on exposure to real industrial cases.
