Program overview
Process Equipment and Control Engineering, simply put, is about learning how to make the "big machines" and "piping systems" in factories work obediently. You need to understand mechanical design (e.g., how to build reactors and heat exchangers), chemical processes (how materials flow and react), and automation control (using sensors and programs to let equipment adjust automatically). Core courses include Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Design, Principles of Chemical Engineering, Control Engineering, and Process Equipment Design. If you enjoy hands-on work, are curious about industrial production lines, and don't want to study only pure theory, this major is a great fit. Chinese universities are very practical in this field; many have school-enterprise cooperation labs where you can get hands-on with real petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and food production line models, and even have opportunities for factory internships.
