Program overview
Intelligent Vehicle Engineering, simply put, is about studying how to make cars drive themselves, think, and interact with people. You'll need to learn the fundamentals of traditional vehicle engineering (such as chassis, powertrain, and body structure) while also tackling hardcore technologies like artificial intelligence, sensor fusion, and control algorithms. Core courses include vehicle dynamics, embedded systems, machine learning, autonomous driving perception and decision-making, and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication. It's suitable for students who enjoy hands-on work and have an interest in both cars and programming. Chinese universities have a clear advantage in this field: many have close cooperation with companies, with real autonomous driving test vehicles in their labs, and students can even participate in road testing projects. For example, Tsinghua, Tongji, and Jilin University all have dedicated intelligent vehicle research institutes.
