Program overview
Mineral Resources Engineering is essentially about studying how to safely, economically, and environmentally extract minerals (such as iron, copper, coal, rare earths) from underground and process them into useful materials. You'll learn core courses like geology, mining methods, mineral processing, rock mechanics, mine safety, and also get exposure to computer simulation and automation technologies. This major is great for students who enjoy hands-on work and are interested in both nature and engineering—you'll be working in the field as well as in the lab. Many Chinese universities (such as China University of Mining and Technology, Central South University) have strong programs in this field, with advanced lab equipment and close cooperation with large mining enterprises, offering plenty of internship opportunities. If you're curious about resource development, environmental protection, or large engineering projects, this major will give you lots of practical experience.
