Program overview
International Affairs is a graduate program that, simply put, teaches you how to understand and respond to an increasingly "messy" world. You'll study core courses like international relations theory, international law, foreign policy analysis, global governance, and international security, along with regional and country studies (e.g., East Asia, Africa, Europe). Chinese universities have a unique edge here: many professors have hands-on experience in embassies or international organizations, and the curriculum is packed with real-world cases of China's involvement in global governance, such as the Belt and Road Initiative and UN peacekeeping missions. It's a great fit for students who are curious about international news, enjoy analyzing different countries' perspectives, and are open to working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. If you have strong English skills and are willing to pick up a second foreign language (like French or Arabic), you'll be even more competitive.
