Program overview
Furniture Design and Engineering — sounds like carpentry? Actually, it's much more. This program teaches you how to turn a piece of wood or a board into furniture that is both beautiful and functional. You'll learn design aesthetics, ergonomics, materials science, manufacturing processes, and even smart home technology. Core courses include: furniture form design, structural design, wood science, coatings and adhesives, CNC machining, furniture CAD/CAM, and more. It's perfect for students who love hands-on creation and are interested in both art and technology. China is the world's largest furniture producer and exporter, and many universities (such as Nanjing Forestry University and Beijing Forestry University) offer strong practical training — you'll visit factory production lines and even build a chair yourself. If you're passionate about home living and want to become a "creator," this program is a great fit.
