Program overview
Agricultural Engineering is an interdisciplinary field under the engineering category. Simply put, it's about "using an engineer's brain to help farmers work." You might learn how to design automated seeders, use drones to monitor crop growth, build greenhouses so vegetables can grow in winter, or even analyze soil fertility with big data. Core courses include Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Design, Agricultural Machinery, Farmland Water Conservancy, Sensors and IoT, and Agricultural Robotics. Many top agricultural universities in China (such as China Agricultural University, Zhejiang University, and South China Agricultural University) excel in this field, with on-campus test fields and smart greenhouses where you can operate equipment firsthand. This major suits students who are hands-on, enjoy the outdoors, and are interested in "technology + agriculture," and don't mind getting their shoes muddy occasionally.
