Program overview
Information and Communication Engineering, simply put, studies how to make information travel faster, more accurately, and more securely from one place to another. The technologies behind your daily use of mobile phones, Wi-Fi, satellite navigation, and video calls all come from this field. Core courses include Signals and Systems, Communication Principles, Digital Signal Processing, Wireless Communications, and Network Communications. You'll also learn programming (C/C++, Python), hardware design (FPGA, embedded systems), and mathematics (probability theory, linear algebra). It's a great fit for students who enjoy hands-on work, have an interest in electronics and programming, and possess strong logical thinking. Chinese universities are highly competitive in this area—for example, Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China are world leaders in 5G, optical communications, and satellite communications. Their labs are equipped with cutting-edge facilities, and many professors are directly involved in setting international standards. International students here can access the most advanced technologies, such as millimeter-wave communications, intelligent reflecting surfaces, and quantum communications.
