Program overview
Intelligent Medical Engineering is an interdisciplinary field that essentially uses technology to enhance healthcare. You will learn medical fundamentals (e.g., human anatomy, physiology), programming and algorithms (Python, machine learning), as well as medical devices and systems (medical imaging, sensors, robotics). Core courses include medical signal processing, medical image analysis, AI applications in healthcare, and medical big data. Many Chinese universities (such as Tianjin University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology) invest heavily in this field, with dedicated labs and partner hospitals, giving you opportunities to participate in real medical projects. This major suits students who are interested in medicine but don't want to be doctors, enjoy coding and tinkering with hardware, or want to use technology to transform healthcare.
