Program overview
Facility Agriculture Science and Engineering, simply put, teaches you to use engineering and technology in agriculture. You might think studying agriculture means working in the fields, but this major is completely different—you'll work in greenhouses, plastic tunnels, and plant factories, using sensors to monitor temperature and humidity, automatic irrigation systems to water crops, and even LED lights to replace sunlight for growing vegetables. Core courses include plant physiology, protected horticulture, greenhouse design and construction, environmental control technology, soilless cultivation, agricultural IoT, etc. It's suitable for students who love plants and are also interested in machinery and electronics, with strong hands-on skills and a willingness to try new things. Many Chinese universities have dedicated greenhouse labs and off-campus internship bases, such as China Agricultural University and Northwest A&F University, where you can directly access the most advanced facility agriculture projects in China.
