Program overview
Robot Engineering is essentially about how to design, build, and control robots. You'll learn how to assemble mechanical structures, wire circuits, and write programs so that robots can see, move, and work. Core courses include Fundamentals of Robotics, Principles of Automatic Control, Sensor Technology, Machine Vision, Motion Planning, Embedded Systems, and more. Many Chinese universities have dedicated robotics labs — for example, the robotics competition teams at Harbin Institute of Technology and Beihang University are particularly strong, giving students hands-on experience with wheeled robots, robotic arms, and even humanoid robots. This major suits students who enjoy hands-on work and have an interest in both mechanics and programming; a solid foundation in math and physics is a plus.
