Program overview
Engineering management is an interdisciplinary field combining management and engineering. Simply put, it teaches you how to use management methods to handle engineering projects. Core courses include project management, engineering economics, construction organization design, contract management, BIM technology application, risk management, and more. You'll learn how to develop project plans, control costs, coordinate teams, and use digital tools (like BIM) to simulate construction processes. This major is especially suitable for those who are interested in engineering but don't want to focus solely on technical work—for example, if you enjoy building houses, roads, or bridges, and also want to be the "commander" overseeing the big picture. Chinese universities have strong practical advantages in this field, with many schools taking students to real construction sites or smart city projects, and even involving them in actual case studies. If you're good at math and logic, and have strong communication skills, this major will be a great fit.
