Program overview
Technical Economics and Management, simply put, teaches you how to determine whether a technology project is worth investing in and how to manage it profitably. It connects the three fields of technology, economics, and management. Core courses include Technical Economics, Project Management, Investment Analysis, Innovation Management, Risk Assessment, and more. You'll learn how to calculate the costs and benefits of tech projects, evaluate patent value, and design business models. This major is especially suitable for those with a science or engineering background who don't want to stay purely technical—for example, if your undergraduate degree is in computer science, engineering, or biology and you want to pivot to business, this major is a great bridge. A unique feature of Chinese universities in this field is that many professors have experience in corporate consulting or government projects, so there are plenty of real-world cases, such as new energy project evaluations and chip industry investment analyses—all based on actual Chinese market scenarios.
