Program overview
Computational Finance is an interdisciplinary field combining finance, mathematics, and computer science. Simply put, it teaches you to use programming and data analysis to tackle financial problems. Core courses include: Fundamentals of Finance (e.g., investments, derivatives pricing), Mathematics (probability theory, stochastic processes), Programming (Python/R, databases), and Machine Learning in Finance. Many Chinese universities (e.g., Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University) have strong faculty and labs in this area, directly engaging with real projects from domestic fintech companies. It's suitable for students who are good at math, enjoy coding, and are interested in stocks/bonds/risk management — you don't need to be a programming guru, but you need patience and logical thinking.
