Program overview
Anthropology sounds very academic, but it's actually quite down-to-earth—it's the study of "people," just from multiple perspectives like culture, society, and biology. You'll learn how different ethnic groups live, think, and organize their societies. Core courses include cultural anthropology, archaeology, linguistic anthropology, biological anthropology, and fieldwork methods. Studying anthropology in China has a unique advantage: many universities take you to ethnic minority villages for hands-on research, such as in Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan, giving you direct exposure to living cultures. This major is perfect for those who are curious about people, love observing and listening, and aren't afraid to step out of their comfort zone. If you enjoy traveling, chatting with people from different backgrounds, or are fascinated by why people from different places think so differently, then anthropology is for you.
