Program overview
Supply chain management is essentially about making the process from production to delivery fast and cost-effective. You'll learn how to select suppliers, manage warehouses, plan transportation routes, forecast market demand, and use data analysis to optimize the entire chain. Core courses include supply chain strategy, procurement and supply management, logistics management, inventory control, ERP system applications, and operations management. Some schools also teach you to use Python or R for supply chain modeling, or simulation software to simulate warehouse operations. This major is perfect for those who enjoy logical reasoning, are sensitive to numbers, and like working with people — because you'll negotiate with suppliers and coordinate with sales departments. Many Chinese universities have close partnerships with companies. For example, Shanghai Jiao Tong University has a joint lab with Cainiao Network, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology has a supply chain talent development program with Huawei. Students get opportunities to work on real business cases. Moreover, China is a manufacturing powerhouse and a core node in the global supply chain, so studying here gives you access to cutting-edge practical scenarios.
