Program overview
Cryptography (graduate level) is an interdisciplinary field that combines mathematics, computer science, and communication technology. Simply put, it's about learning how to design, analyze, and crack encryption algorithms to ensure data is not stolen or tampered with during transmission and storage. Core courses include: principles of cryptography, number theory and algebra, symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, hash functions, digital signatures, network security protocols, quantum cryptography, etc. It's suitable for students who are passionate about mathematics, have strong logical thinking, and enjoy puzzles and challenges. Chinese universities have unique advantages in cryptography—for example, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Xidian University have national-level cryptography labs with internationally leading research, and they collaborate closely with companies like Huawei and Alibaba, offering plenty of hands-on opportunities.
