Program overview
The Science and Technology Education program, simply put, is about learning 'how to teach science and technology.' It doesn't aim to make you a scientist or engineer directly, but rather teaches you how to design curricula, organize activities, and use various methods to convey complex scientific principles and technical knowledge to different audiences—from school students to the general public. Core courses include science education theory, technical education methods, learning psychology, curriculum design and evaluation, and educational technology applications. You will also be exposed to cutting-edge topics such as STEM education (integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), maker education, and AI education. Many Chinese universities have distinctive features in this program, such as Beijing Normal University and East China Normal University, which combine local science museums and primary/secondary schools for extensive practical projects. This program is suitable for students who are passionate about science, enjoy interacting with people, are patient, and have a creative streak. If you loved being a little teacher when you were young, or enjoy figuring out how to explain difficult concepts clearly, this program will be a great fit.
