Program overview
The Early Childhood Education program, simply put, is about how to scientifically care for and educate children. You might think anyone can take care of kids, but there's much more to it—you'll study child psychology to understand what children think and need at each stage; learn educational methods like designing games, storytelling, and crafts to let children learn through play; and also study music, art, and dance, as early childhood education is inseparable from the arts. Core courses include "Developmental Psychology of Preschool Children," "Preschool Education," "Kindergarten Curriculum Design," "Children's Play and Guidance," and "Child Health and Care." A distinctive feature of this program in Chinese universities is its strong emphasis on practice. Many schools have their own affiliated kindergartens, allowing you to observe and intern in real classrooms from your sophomore year, rather than just sitting in a classroom memorizing textbooks. This program is suitable for students who love children, are patient, creative, and don't mind "trivial" tasks. If you are outgoing, enjoy observing people, or are interested in how early education influences a person's life, you will enjoy studying it.
