Program overview
The Student Development and Education program, simply put, studies 'how people grow up' and 'how to help them grow better.' You'll learn about the psychological, cognitive, emotional, and social development of students from elementary school through college, as well as how schools and families can design environments, curricula, and activities to support them. Core courses include Developmental Psychology, Educational Psychology, Learning Sciences, Student Counseling and Guidance, and Educational Research Methods. If you enjoy observing human behavior, are interested in adolescent psychology, and want to become a teacher or counselor who truly helps students, this program is a great fit. A distinct advantage of Chinese universities in this field is that many have partnerships with local primary and secondary schools and counseling centers, allowing you to gain hands-on experience with real cases instead of just sitting in a classroom.
