Program overview
The International Economic and Trade Rules program, simply put, teaches you how to handle cross-border business using legal language. Core courses include WTO rules, international trade law, international investment law, international commercial law, and dispute resolution mechanisms. You'll learn how to draft international contracts, deal with trade frictions, and argue before arbitration tribunals. Chinese universities have unique strengths in this field—for example, University of International Business and Economics and Shanghai University of International Business and Economics—where many professors have hands-on experience with WTO cases. The curriculum also integrates legal practices from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative. This program is ideal for students who are interested in both law and business, enjoy analyzing complex issues, and are willing to engage with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
