Program overview
A graduate program in sports science is, simply put, about studying "how to move better, more scientifically, and more effectively." You'll explore how the body adapts to training in exercise physiology, understand how to regulate athletes' mindset in sports psychology, and learn how to run a sports event or a club in sports management. Core courses also include sports training science, sports sociology, and physical education pedagogy. A unique advantage of Chinese universities in this field is traditional sports culture—such as martial arts, Tai Chi, and health cultivation exercises. Many schools offer specialized research directions and even bilingual courses. This program suits two types of people: first, those with a sports background—athletes or coaches who want to upgrade from "practicing well" to "understanding the science"; second, "sports enthusiasts" interested in the sports industry and health promotion, who want to use professional knowledge to boost national fitness. At the graduate level, research ability is emphasized—you'll conduct experiments, write papers, and even participate in practical sports team services or community sports projects.
