Program overview
Cultural Heritage is a major under the History discipline. Simply put, it's about learning how to protect and study the treasures left by our ancestors—from ancient buildings, artifacts, and sites to traditional crafts and folk culture. Core courses include Introduction to Cultural Heritage, Basics of Archaeology, Museology, Cultural Relics Conservation Techniques, Introduction to World Heritage, and Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection. You'll also learn how to use digital technology to create "IDs" for artifacts or plan immersive exhibitions for audiences. Chinese universities have a natural advantage in this field: the Forbidden City, Dunhuang, the Great Wall, the Terracotta Warriors—all living textbooks. Many schools collaborate with museums and archaeological institutes, taking you to see how restorers bring bronze vessels back to life or record traditional crafts in ancient villages. This major suits students who are curious about history, hands-on, and eager to turn book knowledge into real conservation action.
