Program overview
Atmospheric physics and atmospheric environment are core directions of atmospheric science. Simply put, it studies what happens in the atmosphere, why it happens, and how it affects our lives. You will learn hardcore courses like atmospheric dynamics, cloud and precipitation physics, atmospheric radiation, atmospheric chemistry, and boundary layer meteorology, as well as practical skills such as numerical simulation, satellite remote sensing, and radar data processing. If you are curious about weather phenomena, enjoy math and physics, or care about air quality and climate change, this major will suit you well. Chinese universities have strong observation networks and supercomputer resources in this field, such as Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Peking University, and University of Science and Technology of China. Many laboratories directly participate in major national research projects, giving international students access to world-class data and models.
