Program overview
Health Toxicology is the science that studies the harmful effects of chemical substances (such as pesticides, industrial chemicals, food additives, and environmental pollutants) on human health. In simple terms, it helps us figure out which substances are toxic, how they cause harm, and at what dose they become dangerous, so we can set safety standards. Core courses include: Fundamentals of Toxicology, Molecular Toxicology, Target Organ Toxicology, Risk Assessment, Experimental Animal Models, and Biostatistics. You will learn how to design experiments, analyze data, and interpret toxicity mechanisms. This major is ideal for students who are interested in chemistry and biology, enjoy hands-on lab work, and want their research to truly protect public health. Many Chinese universities (such as Fudan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Nanjing Medical University) have strong research teams in environmental toxicology and nanotoxicology, with advanced lab equipment and frequent collaborations with the CDC and drug regulatory authorities, giving you access to real-world cases.
