Program overview
Environmental Science is the study of how environmental problems arise, how to solve them, and how to prevent them. You will learn core courses such as environmental chemistry, ecology, environmental monitoring, principles of environmental engineering, environmental law, and environmental economics. Simply put, it's about understanding how air, water, soil, and living things interact, and then finding ways to make them healthier. This major is perfect for students who are curious about nature, enjoy hands-on experiments, and like working with data. Chinese universities have strong programs in environmental science—for example, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Nanjing University, and Zhejiang University all have excellent faculty and labs. Many schools also take you on field trips to wetlands, forests, or pollution sites for sampling and analysis—it's quite interesting.
