Program overview
Fluid mechanics is the study of how liquids and gases behave in both static and moving states. Simply put, it's about understanding how the wind blows, how water flows, and how airplanes fly. Core courses include Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Experimental Fluid Mechanics, Turbulence Theory, and Aerodynamics. If you enjoy math and physics and are curious about airplanes, rockets, cars, or even blood flow, this major is a great fit. Chinese universities have strong capabilities in aerospace and marine engineering—for example, Beihang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Northwestern Polytechnical University—which offer wind tunnel labs and supercomputers for hands-on experiments and simulations.
