Program overview
Ammunition Engineering and Explosion Technology — it sounds very "hardcore," but in fact it's an engineering major that balances theory and practice. Simply put, you learn how to design, manufacture, and test ammunition and explosive devices while ensuring the entire process is safe and controllable. Core courses include Ammunition Science, Explosion Mechanics, Propellant and Explosive Technology, Explosion Testing Technology, and Blasting Engineering. You'll also study foundational subjects like Mechanics of Materials and Fluid Mechanics, as well as skills like computer simulation and experimental design. This major suits students who are interested in physics and chemistry, have strong hands-on abilities, and are meticulous and cautious. Chinese universities have strong capabilities in this field, such as Beijing Institute of Technology, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and North University of China. They have specialized laboratories and internship bases, and you may even get to experience real blasting tests. If you enjoy challenges and don't mind the occasional "boom," this major can be a lot of fun.
