Program overview
Systems Analysis and Integration is a graduate program under Systems Science. In simple terms, it teaches you how to use mathematical modeling, computer simulation, and data analysis to understand and manage complex systems where a small change can have widespread effects—such as urban traffic, ecosystems, financial networks, supply chains, and even the human immune system. Core courses include Introduction to Systems Science, Operations Research, Control Theory, Data Mining, and Complex Network Analysis. You will learn how to abstract real-world problems into mathematical models and use programming tools (like Python and MATLAB) to simulate and optimize them. This program is especially suitable for students with a solid math background, a love for logical reasoning, and an interest in interdisciplinary issues. China has a strong research tradition in systems science—for example, the School of Systems Science at Beijing Normal University and the Systems Science discipline at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology are both distinctive, and many professors' research directly connects to practical projects like smart cities and industrial internet, giving you exposure to cutting-edge applications.
