Program overview
Occupational therapy is simply about helping people regain function through 'doing things.' For example, learning how to dress and cook again after a stroke, or helping children with autism improve social skills through play. Core courses include human anatomy, neuroscience, occupational therapy assessment, therapeutic activity design, and environmental modification. You'll also learn how to analyze a person's daily living barriers and design personalized training plans. Many Chinese universities (such as Sichuan University and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine) have distinctive programs in this field, with rich clinical internship resources and some exchange programs with foreign universities. It's suitable for those who are patient, enjoy interacting with people, and are willing to solve problems hands-on—if you feel a strong sense of achievement when someone you've helped can pick up chopsticks or walk on their own again.
