Program overview
Oral Medical Technology is not about becoming a dentist, but rather the 'technical stream' of dental restoration and fabrication. Simply put, you learn how to use various materials (ceramics, resins, metals) and digital equipment (3D scanning, CAD/CAM) to create dentures, crowns, bridges, orthodontic appliances, and more. Core courses include Oral Anatomy and Physiology (understanding tooth structure), Dental Materials Science (choosing the right materials), Dental Prosthetics Technology (hands-on fabrication), and Orthodontic Technology (corrective devices). Many Chinese universities have advanced denture processing training centers and collaborate with large denture enterprises, allowing you to work on real cases while still in school. This major is ideal for students who are hands-on, meticulous, patient, and have an eye for aesthetics. If you enjoy craftsmanship and are interested in medicine, this is a great fit.
