Program overview
This major focuses on the discovery, conservation, development, and utilization of TCM resources. You will learn how to identify various medicinal plants, understand their growing environments and active ingredients, and extract and process them using modern techniques. Core courses include TCM Authentication, Medicinal Botany, TCM Chemistry, TCM Resource Science, and Biotechnology. If you enjoy plants, chemistry, and are interested in TCM culture, this major is a great fit. Many TCM universities in China have medicinal plant gardens and field practice bases where you can touch, observe, and even participate in planting experiments. Teachers often have rich industry experience and will guide you through the entire process from field to pharmacy.
