About the university

Guangxi University (GXU), located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is the only national "211 Project" and "Double First-Class" construction university in Guangxi. During the national university restructuring in 1953, its faculty, disciplines, equipment, and library resources were redistributed to 19 universities in central and southern China. The university was reestablished in Nanning in 1958 with approval from the State Council. In 1997, Guangxi University merged with Guangxi Agricultural University to form the current institution. As of June 2025, the university covers an area of approximately 21,800 mu (about 1,453 hectares), with a total building area of about 1.42 million square meters.
