Introduction to East China Normal University’s Outstanding International Undergraduate Freshman Scholarship East China Normal University (ECNU) is located in Shanghai, described here as China’s most economically prosperous and modern urban center. Scholarship type University Scholarship Eligible Applicants This scholarship is for undergraduate programs only. Scholarship Coverage The scholarship funds only the first academic year, with an award of RMB 30,000. Payment: RMB 2,500/month for 12 months. Other costs are borne by students. Eligibility for the East China Normal University Excellent Freshmen Scholarship Basic Requirements Non-Chinese nationality and good health; Excellent high school academic performance; Priority for applicants with outstanding results in national or international competitions; Applicants must not concurrently receive another type of scholarship. Age and Educational Qualification Requirements High school graduation and no older than 25. Language requirements A valid HSK Level 5 certificate with at least 180 points is required. Application materials Applicants must prepare the following materials: ECNU International Student Application Form: complete the form through http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn and pay the RMB 800 application fee. Passport (valid for at least six months). Passport-sized photograph. High school graduation certificate or provisional proof of graduation. Academic transcripts. Language proficiency certificate. Scholarship application letter (500–800 Chinese characters, written in Chinese). Guardian guarantee (required for applicants under 18). Foreigner Physical Examination Form, valid for six months. Certificate of no criminal record (valid for six months). Art applicants must provide recent original works. Other materials, if any: award documentation, commendation certificates, research achievements or professional documents. Note: provide originals or notarized Chinese translations of all the above materials. Application Procedure Step 1: Register Online Visit ECNU’s International Education Center website (http://lxs.ecnu.edu.cn), click Online Application, submit the application, pay the fee and upload the required materials. Important Information The university does not accept application materials by fax. Incomplete applications or applications without the fee will not be processed. The application fee is nonrefundable once paid. Paper materials need not be mailed to the university. Step 2: Track Application Status Check application progress and status by email or the university’s international student online registration system. Enter an accurate email address and check it regularly to avoid missing important notices such as interview notifications. Step 3: Receive the Scholarship Result Results can be checked through the online application system or the international college’s official website. Recipients must complete enrollment procedures at the stipulated time and bring original application materials to the university for verification.
