About the university
Nanjing Audit University (NAU), also known as "Nanshen," is a higher education institution located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China. It is jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the National Audit Office, and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province. As the only full-time regular university in China named after "audit," it is one of the cradles of audit higher education in the country. The university is a Class B institution under the Jiangsu High-Level University Construction Peak Plan, a base for the Ministry of Education's "Innovative Practice Project for High-Level International Talent Cultivation," and a member of the Yangtze River Delta New Business Education Alliance. NAU traces its origins to the Nanjing Finance and Trade College founded in 1983, with a history dating back to 1951. It was renamed Nanjing Audit College in 1987, merged with Nanjing Finance Higher College in 2002, became a master's degree-granting institution in 2013, was approved by the Ministry of Education to be renamed Nanjing Audit University in 2015, and was granted doctoral degree-granting status (subject to further strengthening) in 2021. On June 22, 2022, NAU established the Department of Mental Health Education and Teaching. On December 9 of the same year, the university co-founded the Yangtze River Delta New Business Education Alliance. In May 2023, the Nanjing Audit University Joint Research Institute was officially established. The university's participation in the international standard for audit data collection (ISO/PC 295) led to the first ISO international standard in the audit field. As of February 2025, NAU has two campuses, Pukou and Mochou, covering an area of 1.2 million square meters. It comprises 21 colleges (teaching departments) and one independent college, offering 44 undergraduate programs. The university has one postdoctoral research station, two first-level doctoral degree authorization disciplines, eight first-level master's degree authorization disciplines, and 17 professional master's degree categories. It has over 1,200 full-time faculty members and more than 19,000 full-time undergraduate, graduate, and international students. In August 1983, the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government officially approved the Nanjing Municipal People's Government to prepare for the establishment of Nanjing Finance and Trade College. In September of the same year, the preparatory group commissioned Jinling Vocational University to enroll 165 new students on its behalf, with classes held at the Nanjing Finance and Trade Cadre School (located at Xiangpuying). In May 1987, the school was jointly run by the National Audit Office and the Nanjing Municipal People's Government, under the co-management of the Jiangsu Provincial Education Commission, and was renamed Nanjing Audit College. In June of the same year, the Department of Audit was formally established. In December 1990, the school became a directly affiliated institution of the National Audit Office, under the joint leadership of the Audit Office, Jiangsu Province, and Nanjing City, with the Audit Office taking the primary role. In February 1993, with approval from the State Education Commission, the school was upgraded to a four-year undergraduate institution, still under the dual leadership of the National Audit Office and the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, with the Audit Office as the main authority. On April 6, 1998, the school launched its first ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) program class. In November of the same year, the school established the "ACCA Training Center" and the "ACCA Nanjing Examination Center."
