Zhejiang University

Zhejiang University (ZJU) is a national key university located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is directly under the Ministry of Education and jointly built with the Zhejiang Provincial Government. ZJU is part of the national 'Double First-Class' initiative, 'Project 211,' and 'Project 985,' and a member of the C9 League.

Its predecessor, Qiushi Academy, was founded in 1897, and the university was established as National Zhejiang University in 1928. The current ZJU was formed in 1998 through the merger of four institutions: the original Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University, and Zhejiang Medical University.

Zhejiang University is internationally renowned for its programs in engineering, computer science, medicine, agriculture, and management. It consistently ranks among the top 50 globally in QS World University Rankings and performs strongly in THE and ARWU rankings.

The university hosts multiple national key laboratories and engineering centers, such as the State Key Laboratory of CAD&CG and the State Key Laboratory for Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Diseases. Flagship majors include Computer Science and Technology, Control Science and Engineering, Optical Engineering, Clinical Medicine, and Agricultural Engineering, all top-ranked in China.

Zhejiang University boasts a distinguished faculty, including members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as internationally recognized scholars. The curriculum combines general education with specialized training, encouraging interdisciplinary learning and innovation.

Research platforms like Zhejiang Lab and the ZJU-Hangzhou International Science and Technology Innovation Center drive breakthroughs in AI, biomedicine, and new energy. The university also operates several joint international research labs.

Zhejiang University has seven campuses, with Zijingang as the main campus, featuring modern facilities and classic Jiangnan garden landscapes. The library holds over 8.22 million volumes and offers rich digital resources.
