Wuhan University (WHU) is located in Wuhan, the central hub of China, nestled at the foot of Luojia Hill and surrounded by East Lake, earning it the reputation as 'one of the most beautiful universities in China.' As a comprehensive national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, WHU traces its roots to the Ziqiang Academy founded in 1893 by Zhang Zhidong.
It was officially named National Wuhan University in 1928, becoming one of the first national universities in modern China. In 2000, it merged with three other institutions to form today's multidisciplinary powerhouse. The university comprises 6 academic divisions and 41 schools, with nearly 56,000 full-time students and over 4,200 faculty members.
