Overview
Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) is located in Beijing, the capital of China. It is a national-level academic center for medical sciences and a comprehensive research institution. Founded in 1917 with a donation from the Rockefeller Foundation, PUMC launched its eight-year medical undergraduate program in 1919, making it the first medical school in China to offer an eight-year clinical medicine program and a nursing undergraduate program.
It is widely known as the 'Temple of Chinese Medicine'. Since 2006, PUMC has partnered with Tsinghua University, allowing it to use the second name 'Peking Union Medical College – Tsinghua University Faculty of Medicine', giving students access to resources from both institutions.
