University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), located in the capital city of Beijing, is a multidisciplinary research university directly under the Ministry of Education. Founded in 1952 by merging the mining and metallurgy departments of six prestigious universities including Tianjin University and Tsinghua University, it was originally named Beijing Iron and Steel Industry Institute and later renamed USTB in 1988.

As a national key university under the '211 Project', '985 Project Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform', and 'Double First-Class' initiative, USTB boasts world-leading strengths in materials science, metallurgical engineering, and mining engineering.

USTB's flagship disciplines include Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, and History of Science and Technology, all rated A+ or A in China's discipline evaluation.
