Tianjin Medical University

Tianjin Medical University (TMU) is a key national Double First-Class and 211 Project university located in Tianjin, a coastal city in northern China. It is jointly established by the Tianjin Municipal Government, the National Health Commission, and the Ministry of Education.

Founded in 1951 as Tianjin Medical College, it merged with Tianjin Second Medical College in 1994 to form the current university. As a Ministry of Education demonstration base for studying in China and a recipient of Chinese Government Scholarships, TMU hosts 406 international degree students from various countries.

TMU's core strength lies in its top-tier clinical medicine education and research. It was one of the first two medical schools in China approved to pilot an eight-year clinical medicine program and one of the first 15 to pilot a seven-year program, giving it deep expertise in long-cycle medical training.

The university has 9 first-level doctoral degree authorization points and 8 postdoctoral research stations. Disciplines such as Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology & Toxicology, and Neuroscience & Behavior rank among the global top 1% in ESI.

TMU boasts a highly qualified faculty of 8,703 professionals, including academicians and national-level talents. The university implements the Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program, with a curriculum integrating basic sciences and clinical practice, using problem-based learning (PBL) and simulation.

Research platforms include provincial/ministerial key laboratories and engineering centers, supporting major national projects. As a leading institution in the National 2011 Plan, TMU excels in oncology, neuroscience, and metabolic diseases.

TMU has two campuses in central Tianjin: Qixiangtai Road and Guangdong Road, both with convenient transportation and full amenities. The campuses feature modern buildings, a well-stocked library, labs, and sports facilities.
