Shaanxi Normal University

Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU), located in the historic city of Xi'an, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education. It is part of China's '211 Project' and 'Double First-Class' initiative. Tracing its roots to 1944, SNNU was officially named in 1960 and became a ministry-affiliated normal university in 1978.

As a member of the New Silk Road University Alliance, SNNU actively promotes internationalization, hosting over 600 international students from more than 60 countries and collaborating with universities worldwide. With two campuses—Chang'an and Yanta—the university blends modernity with tradition, offering a multicultural learning environment for international students.

SNNU is renowned for its teacher education programs, with disciplines such as Education, Chinese Language and Literature, History, and Chemistry selected for national 'Double First-Class' construction. As one of the first pilot universities for the 'National Excellent Teacher Training Program', it is known as the 'Cradle of Teachers'.

In the Soft Science China University Rankings, SNNU consistently ranks among the top normal universities. The university also excels in basic research and humanities, hosting multiple national-level research platforms, including the National Base for Talent Cultivation and Scientific Research in Chinese Language and Literature.

SNNU comprises 27 colleges offering 69 undergraduate programs, with 25 first-level doctoral degree authorization points, 35 first-level master's degree authorization points, and 20 postdoctoral research stations. The faculty includes over 3,442 staff members, including several academicians and national teaching masters.

The curriculum emphasizes a blend of general education, specialized study, and teacher training. Research is supported by platforms like the Shaanxi Normal University Institute of Basic Education, undertaking major national projects in areas such as western education, historical culture, and chemical materials.

The main Chang'an campus features modern facilities, a well-stocked library, sports venues, and comfortable student dormitories and dining halls. The Yanta campus, located in downtown Xi'an near the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, offers a historic and cultural atmosphere.
