Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM), located in the capital city of Beijing, operates three campuses: Liangxiang, Hepingjie, and Wangjing. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, co-established with the National Health Commission, the National Administration of TCM, and the Beijing government.

BUCM focuses on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as its core discipline, while also offering programs in pharmacy, nursing, management, and more. Features & strengths

BUCM’s greatest strength lies in its top-ranked TCM disciplines. Its three flagship fields—Chinese Medicine, Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, and Chinese Materia Medica—are designated as national “Double First-Class” disciplines, alongside 48 key disciplines recognized by the National Administration of TCM.

The university hosts numerous national-level research platforms, including international S&T cooperation bases and key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, driving cutting-edge research and clinical translation. With several affiliated top-tier hospitals, students gain extensive hands-on clinical experience.

Teaching & research

BUCM boasts a distinguished faculty, including 3 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and 5 national TCM masters, with over 1,800 full-time teachers. The curriculum integrates classical TCM texts, modern medical sciences, and research methodologies, emphasizing both theory and practice.

The university offers 3 postdoctoral stations, 3 first-level doctoral programs, 7 master’s programs, and 15 undergraduate majors. Research is supported by state-level labs and centers, with breakthroughs in herbal medicine modernization, acupuncture mechanisms, and integrative medicine.
