China University of Mining & Technology, Beijing (CUMTB) is located in the capital city of China, with two campuses: Xueyuan Road in Haidian District and Shahe in Changping District, covering a total area of 518 mu (about 34.5 hectares).

It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a member of the “211 Project”, the “985 Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform”, and the “Double First-Class” initiative, jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the former State Administration of Work Safety.

CUMTB’s flagship programs include Mining Engineering and Safety Science & Engineering, both national first-level key disciplines with outstanding global reputation. Other strong disciplines include Surveying & Mapping, Geological Resources & Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

The university has 2 first-level national key disciplines, 8 second-level national key disciplines, and 14 post-doctoral research stations. In the Ministry of Education’s discipline evaluation, Mining Engineering and Safety Science & Engineering have been rated A+, ranking top in China.

CUMTB boasts a highly qualified faculty, including several members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, offering extensive engineering practice courses and industry-university cooperation projects to cultivate students’ hands-on skills and innovative thinking.

The university offers 17 first-level doctoral programs, 34 first-level master’s programs, and 12 professional master’s degree categories, providing a complete training system from bachelor’s to doctoral levels. In research, CUMTB relies on national key laboratories and engineering research centers to undertake numerous major national projects, leading in fields such as deep rock mechanics, coal and gas co-extraction, and mine automation.

The Xueyuan Road campus is located in the heart of Haidian District, surrounded by numerous universities and research institutes, offering a strong academic atmosphere and easy access to libraries and resources. The Shahe campus in Changping District features a beautiful environment and modern facilities, including advanced teaching buildings, laboratories, a library, and sports venues.
