Overview
Harbin Medical University (HMU) is a high-level university located in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China. It is sponsored by the Heilongjiang Provincial Government and jointly established with the National Health Commission and the Ministry of Education.
HMU traces its origins to 1926 when Dr. Wu Liande founded Binjiang Medical School to combat plague outbreaks. Later, it merged with the first and second branches of China Medical University to form today's HMU. As a key university in Heilongjiang's high-level university construction project, HMU is part of several national initiatives including the Midwest University Basic Capacity Building Project and the Excellent Doctor Education Training Plan.
