Jiangsu University (JSU) is a key comprehensive public university located in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, co-established by the Jiangsu Provincial Government, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
Its history dates back to the Sanjiang Normal School founded in 1902, and it was formed in 2001 through the merger of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang Medical College, and Zhenjiang Teachers College.
JSU's flagship programs include agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering, and medicine. Its agricultural engineering discipline ranks among the top in China, leveraging the China Modern Agricultural Machinery Industry-Education Integration Community to lead in smart farming and mechanization.
Mechanical and vehicle engineering have a strong legacy from the former Nanjing Agricultural Machinery Institute (founded 1960), earning high industry reputation. The medical programs, inherited from Zhenjiang Medical College, excel in clinical medicine and laboratory diagnostics.
JSU has a strong faculty of over 2,700 full-time teachers, more than 50% holding senior titles. The university offers 16 doctoral degree programs, 46 master's programs, and 14 postdoctoral research stations across engineering, medicine, science, management, and other fields.
Its teaching and research equipment is valued at 1.53 billion RMB, supporting national and provincial platforms like the Collaborative Innovation Center for Modern Agricultural Equipment and Technology. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning, with New Engineering reforms, English-taught programs, and international course modules.
JSU's campus spans over 3,000 mu (about 200 hectares) with lush greenery, earning it the nickname 'garden campus.' The library holds 3.3 million volumes and offers modern study spaces and digital resources. Facilities include advanced labs for smart agriculture and medical simulation.
